Doctor by the Universitat de les Illes Balears with the thesis Consecuencias ecológicas, demográficas y evolutivas de las interacciones planta-animal en dos especies de Daphne (Thymelaeaceae) 2007. Supervised by Dr. Anna Traveset Vilagines.

My research is focused on the losses of biodiversity by global-change drivers and their effects on biodiversity and ecological functions and services. Specifically, my interests are mainly aimed at studying (a) the biodiversity patterns in natural and managed habitats to better predict and mitigate the potential effects of global change, and (b) the role of animals as mobile links on providing ecosystem functions and services in complex landscapes. My contributions to this field has been the integration of species interactions to better predict species distributions and ecological functions, and specially those interactions providing key roles on ecosystem functions and services (e.g. vegetation recovery, pollination, pest control) either at population, regional and continental scales. I am interested in applying integrative methods combining different data sources and statistical methodologies, widely applicable to a broad variety of ecosystems and species, with the aim to describe and predict ecological processes and patterns in complex landscapes.
